They Called Him on A Mission

It was a week of checking the mailbox again as Bishop told us that Kota's status changed to assigned. Kyle and I had an appointment at the temple and Kayla was babysitting Friday.  We literally had minutes to change and head out.  Friday was the night the letter came.  Kota had to wait until we got home from the temple.  At 10:30 last night we all gathered in my mom's living room with Robin on the phone, my aunt Cyndi and Dakota's MN adopted family the Sonensthal's.  He opened the letter and read: Utah Salt Lake City South mission.  (Information on missionaries Here.). He was surprised.  The more he thinks about it the better he likes it.  I need to soak in the time with him.  We have raised a missionary, who knew?

  1. I'm really excited for him and I know he'll do great! I wondered if he was disappointed at staying in the states, but the Lord knows where he'll do the best job and someone out there is waiting for his knock on their door! It so great that he's sacrificing these 2yrs...It will be so worth it for him and for those lucky enough to have him. Take care Mom, he'll be fine! Plus, the next month will really fly! So much to do..so little time! Congrats Dakota!!

  3. Woo hoo! I think that's the highest baptizing mission in the world, so he'll be super busy! Congratulations, Dakota. :)

  4. Wahoo! We are so excited for him - and of course you raised a missionary. You two are amazing parents and that's evident in both your children! We loved watching the video on FB and how he paused and looked confused for a second as soon as he started reading "Utah". The people of SLC are lucky to have him!

  6. I can't believe it FINALLY arrived! Well, I can because it seemed to have taken forever! We were shocked when we heard where he was called, too! I could not believe it! BUT the more and more we think about it, the more we think it is perfect for Dakota. He is just going to learn so much and he will bring that knowledge back with him to help build the kingdom wherever he goes. How proud we and everyone is of him! He's a product of his raising, isn't he?! :) Love you guys.
