Routines

What are your routines?  I find myself not settling into a good one right now.  For years every fall we get back to school and run the gauntlet of kids activities after school.  Football practice and games, soccer practice and games.  This year none of those things are on the plate.  I'm feeling a bit empty.  Not sure what to do with the time.  I used to want time, now that I have it, I'm not sure what to do with it.  So what do you do?  I need to use mine more wisely.

On another note yesterday we collected food for the Feed Ohio initiative.  The two routes that we looked over were barren.  No one left food out, but the company was good.  As a ward we collected enough food to fill the back of a pick up truck.

This isn't all of the bounty, not everyone was back yet after we came back to our check point.  Things like this make me happy.  I love giving service.

One of the things I thought about today at church is making the Boy Scout motto part of my daily life.  So I'm going try to do a Good Turn Daily.  I think I might even keep track for awhile.

Have a great Sunday.

  1. It is hard to fill the time after kids. Find something you love to do for yourself.
    congrats on the food collection.

  2. So sorry that your route didn't donate. I was surprised that we got any because so many people that I did talk to mentioned that AU had just collected a few weeks ago. I think it was because I took the kids with me and managed to engage in some good conversations due to that. Those were the people that donated. We went out for about 1-1/2 hours each on Wed, Thur, and Fri do do the fliers, and since we only covered 1-1/2 streets I guess I was pretty gabby. My kids were very cute with saying goodbye to everyone. Ellie would wave and holler, "okay, g'bye, we love you. See you later." which is her standard farewell for Tom in the morning. :)

Soon enough, something will find its way into your life to fill your time, and you will be wishing you were less busy again. And if the bishop reads your blog, you might get very, very busy again. :)

  3. Your new motto "A Good Turn Daily" is a place to start. It may take a few weeks, but you will find a new normal routine. I spend a good part of my time exercising and reading. And then there are still household chores and shopping to do. You will fill your day before you know it.

  4. With 4 kiddos I was always running somewhere and doing something...now I'm still busy and wondering how I ever had time for kids in the first place! You are allowed to just rest and enjoy the quiet once in a while..try it..you'll like it! Thanks for doing the food drive!

  5. Is Kayla not doing any after school activities this year? That's great that you guys were able to do service for Feed Ohio. I love that I get opportunities through the Church to do service projects. I always feel the Spirit when being a part of them.
