Magical Decade Comes to a Close

Yesterday our family went to see the last Harry Potter movie.  I loved sharing Harry with my family.  Dakota was six years old when we went to see the first movie.  We went to this one with Grandma and Grandpappy Crawford when they were down for Christmas.  We went to see it in a movie theater that isn't even there anymore.  (the one by the Kingsgate Mall, which is now Hobby Lobby, in Mansfield.)

Kota even dressed up as Harry Potter for Halloween a few times.  I eagerly awaited the new releases from JK Rowlings.  I would devour those books in just a day.  I loved the magical world of Hogwarts.

The movie was good.  I enjoyed it.  It's crazy to have watched the actors grow into young adults.  My children have grown up with them.  Good-bye Harry Potter, I'm glad you beat the villian and have entertained my family for a long time.

  1. I've never read the books or even seen the movies. I know I have a couple of the movies on DVD and still haven't watched them. Maybe I need to. It is sad to have an era come to a close. But sadder to see how old your kiddos are!

  2. I know what you mean, Stacy! The first Harry Potter came out the year I was doing my student teaching in fifth grade and my mentor teacher read it aloud to the kids. I was reading it aloud to my girls at home, even though they had already read it themselves, just because we loved the magic of sharing it together. My girls are in their 20's now, and the oldest one went to see the last movie with her friends, camped out early, waiting in line, and still went to work at 6 am the next day! The youngest was a camp counselor so couldn't go to the first night, but when she got home, she went with her dad! I stayed home, as I wasn't ready to sit in a theater yet!
I've loved watching the transformation of students from non-readers to readers through Harry Potter. That's the magic!

  3. I still haven't see it. I really want to though. Is it bad that I think Malfoy is a hottie?
