Feeling Rushed...Does it make Me a Grinch?

I am feeling like I'm missing out on the Thanksgiving experience every time I walk into a store.  I really enjoy the bountiful harvest, the idea of being thankful for what I have, the traditional Thanksgiving dinner.  I like living in the holiday of the moment.  However, when I walk into the store, Christmas carols...Already?

Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas.  The thought behind it, the celebration of the Savior's birth.  The giving versus receiving, the carols, the love....but can't we live in the moment.

Does that make me a.....

  1. I prefer to keep my Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas separate, with divisions in between.

I don't appreciate the stores rushing through Thanksgiving to get to Christmas. All in its time, right?

  3. As you know Stacy, I decorate for every holiday and I especially like to put up more fall decor after Halloween so I don't get caught up in the Christmas rush...the shopping frenzie...the shipping nightmares...until I have to anyway! I love Thanksgiving and I refuse to push Christmas in there. I have all of December to do that!

  4. I totally agree with you Stacy! I resent the Christmas stuff too early. I have an unwritten rule in my house, no Christmas decorating until after Thanksgiving! I always appreciate the nice long weekend after Thanksgiving for that particular reason!

I have always loved Thanksgiving, because it seems it's the only "holiday" where thankfulness and giving is bigger than getting. This year several of us at school are providing Thanksgiving for one of our families that isn't able to afford the big dinner. That feels so "right" to me.

Thanks so much for you cheering and uplifting comments on my post this morning. I'm so appreciative of your support! Now I'm waiting for you to come up with the magic we need!! :)

    Hugs to you!

  5. I couldn't agree with you more. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays and it gets shorter shrift every year. Glad to know I'm not alone.
