I can't believe it's been 17 years since we got married. Most people my age have children under the age of 10. I was 18 years old when I got married to Kyle. (I turned 19 a month later)
Tonight at dinner we talked about how it hasn't felt like it's been that long since our wedding day. We have been through a lot together and we have a lot more life to experience with each other.
Kyle proposed to me (sort of) after we knew each other for two weeks. Can you believe it TWO WEEKS! I think if Kayla told me that I would think she was crazy. Anyhow, I was living with my girlfriend Gretchen. We shared an apartment down the road from my Grandparents' house. My bedroom was off the kitchen. Kyle was laying on my bed while I was watching dishes, because we didn't have much furniture then. He said to me, what do you think about getting married in May? I said, Are you serious? He said if you are. I said of course. (Hence the sort of proposed)
Later he told me he was afraid I'd say no, so he only wanted to make it a suggestion. I got my engagement ring for Christmas. Then we planned the wedding and were married only knowing each other for about 8 months.
I don't know why I knew after two weeks Kyle was for me, but I did. I was lucky to find such a good man at a young age. I'm not sure if there are such things as soul mates, but if there is; Kyle is mine.
So to celebrate today we went to Cheddar's Restaruant in Ontario. We ordered Ribs and Chicken. You know, it was just okay, the ribs were a little dry, usually they are much better. Then we did what we usually do on Saturday's, we got groceries and did our shopping. Kyle let me buy him some much needed clothes.
Basement project update: 7/8 finished. Kyle finished laying the block today. All he has left is the finish work. We bought the supplies for it Friday night. Robin is due in late tonight, so I think I'll have 100% completion in the next week! :) I told him that's the best anniversary present he could give me.
Werid Find: right next to the trench between the new basement wall and the back porch stairs I found this toy.
I cleaned it up and looked it up on the internet. It's an Auburn Harley Davidson Policeman Rubber Toy from the 1950s. The funny story about this is when I worked at the Ashland Wooster Drive-in several years back, the owner said he lived close to my house and used to play with one of the kids that lived in my house. He said the used to bury toys in the hill. He said if I ever found any I would have to go and show him. I think that is going to be one of the things I do this week.
Happy Anniversary. It doesn't take long to figure out when you've really found the right guy. And I love your romance filled day! :)

Happy Anniversary! I knew after 2 weeks with my husband, too. But we waited over 3 years to marry because we were freshman, and he didn't want his parents helping to support us.

Happy Anniversary! You didn't even tell me! I know why Kyle asked you so quick, he was afraid no one else would have his ornery self! Just kidding Kyle..you know I love you! You two are perfect for each other. Looks like you had a fun weekend and congrats on the project almost being done. Nothing like a project taken off the list. Hey, when you show him the toy, maybe he'll give you a free dinner with root beer....probably he'll just want it back. Finders keepers I always say!
ReplyDeleteThe neat thing about being married so young is that you'll grow very old together! My inlaws just celebrated 70years together! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! What a wonderful love story you are. I love the way you've displayed your (beautiful) wedding dress.
