End of the Year, Tying up Loose Ends, Awards

End of the school year brings a lot of tasks to tie up.  Both of my children have been having their awards and performances.  Kayla's choir had their performance.  They did a lot of broadway musical numbers, and 80s hits.  Kayla didn't like all the choices, but I don't think she was thinking about what the audience would like to hear.

We live in a very small village, but every year they put on a nice little parade.  Sometimes the kids have been apart of the parade, but not this year.  We were window spectators this year, because we woke up late.  Kyle went out and got some shots for my blog.

Memorial Day lunch with family.  I can't resist taking pictures of Maleah, she is so photogenic.  She will be two in September and is just learning to speak.  She is way cute, glad she goes home with my sister though.
The mooseman earned his Varsity letter a few weeks back.  He got the letter Tuesday night at the Spring Sports award ceremony.  He was so excited to earn this.  He's ready to get his Varsity jacket.  I told him to wait a couple of weeks, then he can put it in layaway with his own money from working.  Is that to mean, make him pay for his own?  I did just buy a class ring this year.
We had field day at school today.  It was so much fun.  Our gym teacher is amazing at scheduling this day.  The kids really enjoy themselves and get to have great fun while working together.  I'm winding down, one day to go with kids.  It's always a bittersweet time of year, sending one group off and anticipating another.  It's time to take a little break, then off to making better lesson plans for next year.  I am looking forward to devoting a little more time to my calling at church as well.
Here's to summer!

  1. Hi Stacey, wow those azaleas are gorgeous! What a show. Glad you are enjoying Merrilyn's story. Love the parade photos. I live near a fairly small village - I wonder if we could put together a parade?

  2. It is not mean to make him pay for his jacket. I think it teaches them how precious money is.
I do remember how busy this time of year was when my daughter was young.

  3. The end of the school year is always exciting. And a little bit fearsome.

    ;)

PS. By the way, we always used to tell our kids that we'd meet them halfway on such things. They could earn half, then we'd chip in the rest.
    Congrats to the mooseman!
